Ret paladin is officially the hardest class to find a raid or a group with.
They are a melee clas that offers 0 CC and fery limited utility. I can count on one hand the number of guilds that allow REt pallies to raid and its because they were holy and switched to ret after to fool around. Plus the is no such build for any char that would be good in both PVP and PVE. and especially for a hybrid you have to max out all the talents for the task Be it PVP or PVE.
Expansion looks promising for ret but only time will tell.
IMO level as ret (Prot if you know how) FYI Prot is the fastest leveling spec in the game if you know what you are doing, the record stands at 1 day or so till level 70.
At level 70 go either holy or prot and you will be fine.

Good luck. My sources has my friend (a ret pali) that might not have the gear, but has been playing the pali for a while. He stopped for his warrior for a while, and is now working on a shaman, and has respeced so many times since he hit 70, so I don’t know how long he’ll stay ret, but you can look at that for reference.

Hobbs is 100% Prot and is very good with a paladin. Ret is an awful build for PvE but great for PvP so you really need to make up you mind what it is your going for. If you really want to do both you’ll have to spec for one yet **** at the other. My recommendation is spec Prot and be good and doing Instances and Daylies yet pretty useless in a PvP situation. You can by all means still PvP but you wont be the fastest killer around. But, it can be done my brother has a 70 Prot Paladin and is getting very near 10,000 kills so you can still PvP you just have to figure out the tricks.

If you want to raid and pvp…reroll.
Retpallies are a pvp spec, not pve.
I wouldn’t let a retpally in my raid even if my only other option was not going. Seriously.
